Downloaded on 12 April 2015.〕 The adult is 40 to 46 centimeters long. It has a dark plumage marked with irregular lines above and paler, reddish brown underparts with mottling, barring, and spots. The facial disc is reddish with concentric lines. The throat is white. The ear tufts are relatively large.
